Errors in Valve Installation

When we want to install valves, we often neglect some key points or installation errors between unfamiliar people, so that the product can not play its role. This paper summarizes some common misunderstandings for you. Here we introduce its installation errors:


1. Horizontal installation of concentric pipe with different diameters


Eccentric diameter pipe can be installed horizontally, concentric diameter pipe is installed in the vertical line. In some applications, it is necessary to install in horizontal line and use eccentric reducer, but this problem usually involves cost: concentric pipe with different diameters is cheap.


2. Installation space is too small


If it is very difficult to install a concrete excavation work, do not try to minimize the installation space and save that cost, it will be very difficult to carry out basic maintenance in the later period.


(2) Keep in mind that tools can be very long, so space must be reserved so that bolts can be loosened and some space is needed, which allows you to add devices later.


3. Bolts are too long


Only one or two threads can exceed the nut, which can reduce the risk of damage or corrosion. Usually bolts are too long, because some people don't have time to calculate the correct length or they don't care what the result is.


4. No consideration of late disassembly


Most of the time, installers understand that they can't connect everything together in a concrete chamber, and they don't need some kind of connection to remove parts at some time in the future.


If all the parts are tightly tightened and there is no clearance, it is almost impossible to separate them. It is necessary for groove couplings, flange joints and pipe joints.


(3) Parts may need to be removed in the future, and although this is not usually the concern of the installation contractor, it should be the concern of the owners and engineers.


5. No pressure gauge or device installed


Some utilities like to calibrate testers. These facilities usually provide a good interface for their field personnel to connect testing equipment, but some devices even install accessories.


(2) Although there is no regulation, such a design can see the actual pressure, even if there are supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and telemetry capabilities, someone will stand next to the valve at some point, need to see what the pressure is, it is so convenient.


6. Do not exclude air


When the pressure drops, the air is discharged from the suspension and transferred to the pipeline, which will cause problems downstream of the valve. A simple vent valve will get rid of any air that may exist and prevent downstream problems.


(2) The vent valve upstream of the control valve is also very good, because the air in the guide pipeline may cause instability.


7. Control valves do not need separate isolation


Although isolation occupies precious space, it is important to allow personnel to work on the valve when maintenance is required.


If the space is limited and the gate valve is considered too long, at least install the butterfly valve, which takes up almost no space.


3. Keep in mind that it is easier and better to use them for maintenance and operation when you have to stand on them.
